Thailand Transportation

As wonderful as Thailand is, there are times when you may want to do some traveling to other countries. In close proximity to other Southeast Asian countries like Laos, Burma, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, Thailand is only a short flight to an exciting getaway. Longer trips to China, India, Nepal or Japan are definitely doable from Thailand and you may become quite a seasoned traveler before long. The airport in Bangkok will make such trips convenient as there are direct flights to many of these countries as well as connections to North American, European and Australian destinations. Major airlines operate out of two airports as do several domestic airlines. These are reasonably priced airlines and the railway and bus lines are also affordable modes of transportation, comfortable and reliable.

Metro systems

Bangkok is the only city in Thailand with a metro and Tour bus service system:

Bangkok Metro or MRT

The 21-kilometer, 18-station Blue line presently runs from Bang Sue to Hua Lamphong via Phra Ram 9

Bangkok Skytrain or BTS

At its opening, the BTS had twenty-three stations on its two lines: seventeen on the Sukhumvit Line and six on the Silom Line, with both lines interchanging at Siam. Two and five additional stations have since opened on the Silom and Sukhumvit lines, respectively, in 2009 and 2011.
